BWH employees now can call this number to receive important announcements and updates during designated emergencies involving the hospital.
The establishment of the line is part of BWH's ongoing emergency preparedness efforts. The line is just one of the ways employees may receive information about what is going on and what response is expected or needed from them during designated emergencies.
"This line will enhance our communication during a disaster or emergency," said Barry Wante, BWH's Emergency Preparedness Program manager.
During a designated emergency that involves BWH, call 1-800-343-7036. You will hear a recorded message that provides information about the incident or event, what you should do, where else information is available and the date and time the message was last updated. The Emergency Preparedness team will update the message as new information becomes available.
If you hear a busy signal when you call the line, please hang up and call again in a few minutes. Currently, the line is equipped to handle up to 3,000 callers at one time, but Emergency Preparedness staff are working to increase the number of incoming calls the line can receive.
The BWH Employee Emergency Announcement Line is just one of several ways BWH will communicate with staff and employees in an emergency situation. You also will receive regular updates via e-mail, from your supervisor or manager, and on www.bwhpikenotes.org. Depending on the situation, a reminder from the BWH Employee Emergency Announcement Line also will be posted on the front page of www.brighamandwomens.org
Employees should note that this line allows you only to listen to a message. It does not allow you to report information or leave a message. If you need to report an emergency, call 911 or BWH Security at 617-732-6555.
As September is National Preparedness Month, learn more about emergency preparedness at BWH. Visit www.bwhpikenotes.org and select Emergency Management from the Staff Resources drop down menu for a list of events and activities hosted by Emergency Preparedness this month.
Share the message, download the Employee Emergency Announcement Card in a printable pdf format.
