O’Neil Britton, MD, this month joined BWH as a physician in the Department of Medicine and a 2007 Deland Fellow.
As an administrative fellow, Britton—who joins 2006-2007 Deland fellows Nipa Patel and Joseph Camillus—will work on a variety of strategic and administrative projects across service delivery planning and operations, resident education, network development and further integration of clinical services at Faulkner Hospital. Chief Operating Officer Kate Walsh and Dale Adler, MD, will serve as Britton’s primary fellowship preceptors, and President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, and Chief Medical Officer Andy Whittemore, MD, are Britton’s executive mentors.
In addition to the fellowship, Britton also will take on clinical responsibilities in the inpatient General Medical Service.
Britton earned his MD from New Jersey Medical School and performed his residency at BWH in Internal Medicine from 1997 to 2000. He subsequently served as a member of the BWH/Faulkner hospitalist executive council until 2005 and played a critical role in the early clinical integration of BWH and Faulkner Hospital. In 2001, Britton was promoted to associate director for Minority Career Development.
Britton left BWH in 2005 to serve as medical director of Horizon Healthcare of New York, a subsidiary of Horizon Healthcare-Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
