Members of the Partners Asthma Center and the Asthma Research Center teamed up to participate in the second annual Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk on June 11, sponsored by the American Lung Association. As team captains, Jacqueline Rodriguez-Louis, MPH, M.Ed, program coordinator of BWH's Community Asthma Program and Jorge Tello, Asthma Research Center, led 21 members of Team BWH: Partners Asthma Center and Team Asthma Research Center on the five-kilometer walk in Brighton's Artesani Park.
The walk is part of a nationwide effort to raise funds for asthma research and education and to support children with asthma and their families. Asthma affects about 17 million Americans.
“I am committed to raising awareness, providing support and education to persons with asthma, and contributing to the eradication of asthma in our communities,” said Rodriguez-Louis. “I walk for my 12-year-old son Pierce, who was born with asthma, and for my patients, to whom I am steadfast.”
