Caps for Kids, a nationwide, nonprofit volunteer organization in its 16th year, is looking for volunteers to hand knit or crochet hats for needy children in Boston. The organization also is seeking suggestions about programs and centers with children who could use handmade hats and other items.
BWH began its Caps for Kids program in 1989 and joined efforts with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 1999. Altogether, BWH and DFCI have donated more than 10,000 hats made by friends and employees to nearby schools, health centers and infants in BWH's nurseries.
The program will store hats sent in by volunteers until they are distributed to needy children in December. To participate, e-mail jcasby@partners.org
