Christine Skiadas, MD, returned to BWH 25 years after she was born here to begin her medical residency. Now in the last year of her residency, she is completing a rotation with the doctor who delivered her.
Gynecologic surgeon Ray Reilly, MD, a former obstetrician, delivered Skiadas when she was born at the Lying-In building at the Boston Hospital for Women, one of BWH’s predecessor hospitals, in 1977. The two are together again this month as Skiadas, now a chief resident for Obstetrics/Gynecology and one of the administrative chiefs in Obstetrics/Gynecology, rotates through Gynecologic Surgery under Reilly’s supervision.
“He’s an excellent teacher,” said Skiadas, who informed Reilly of their connection four years ago when she came to BWH during a meet and greet session for medical interns. “I’ve learned from him how to be ‘surgically elegant’ and to pay attention to details like surgical technique.”
“She’s very good in the OR,” Reilly said of Skiadas, who grew up in Hingham and attended the University of Pennsylvania Medical School before returning to Boston for training.
