Lisa S. Ponton, JD, was named vice president of Human Resources at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Her first day is Nov. 1.

Ponton joins BWH from Vanderbilt University where she served as senior director of Human Resource Programs for eight years. While at Vanderbilt, she led a comprehensive and integrated HR function for 18,000 employees of the medical center and the university. Ponton led a highly engaged department of professionals focused on recruitment, employee relations, training and organizational development.
A lawyer by training, Ponton began her career at United States Steel Corporation, holding increasingly responsible positions. She spearheaded the company's workers compensation program, affirmative action strategies and employee practices for eight plant locations. Ponton also was director of Employee Relations for Magee Women's Hospital and was senior consultant at KCRS & HRU Consulting, offering customized human resource management for clients including University of Pittsburgh, Mercy Health System, and Mellon Bank.
John Lew, director of Employment Services, has served as interim vice president of HR since January. “I want to express my most sincere appreciation to John who has been providing stellar leadership during the search for a vice president. John has proven himself an extremely effective leader, and he has gained enormous respect from his colleagues and the executive team during this transition.”
