Supply Status Vaccine availability continues to be restricted to highest risk patients and selected staff. Due to the continued nationwide shortage, BWH has only received 30 percent of its necessary supply. This week, BWH began its central flu vaccine distribution program, vaccinating its highest risk patients. Patients must have a request form from their physicians to be eligible for flu vaccination. Staff vaccinations have also begun for those who have the highest risk for spreading influenza to our high-risk patients. Staff who are eligible have already received notification from their supervisors. All supervisors for these units have been contacted. In addition, limited vaccine supply has begun to be distributed to the BW/F distributed campus. The central vaccine distribution program and vaccines distributed in BWH’s physician offices are for patients only. Staff are reminded to respect patient privacy and patients’ concerns about limited supply.
Stay Informed BWH’s flu hotline at 1-800-906-4048 and the “Flu Vaccine Update” section of the www.bwhpikenotes.org homepage both provide the most current information on BWH’s flu vaccine supply.
