According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), commuters who drive alone to BWH approximately 25 miles each way will spend as much as $5,300 a year, not including parking. But, there is good news for BWH commuters. Commuters who share rides to BWH can save at least $3,150 a year by carpooling with just one other person.
CommuteWorks, a service provided by MASCO, the transportation management association for the Longwood Medical and Academic Area, offers a variety of programs, including carpools, vanpools, and the Commute Fit Program, an exercise incentive program catered to people who walk, run, bike, or rollerblade to work.
CommuteWorks also offers a Pool-Aide parking program and an Emergency Ride Home program for commuters in registered carpools and vanpools. CommuteWorks provides personalized assistance in choosing the most efficient and cost–effective means of getting to work at BWH. For more information about CommuteWorks’ programs, visit www.masco.org/commuteworks or contact Melissa Marantz at 617-632-2796.
