Stephen Moore, PhD, recently became the new director of Nuclear Medicine Physics at BWH. Moore, who has worked in the BWH Department of Radiology for nearly 20 years, was successful in obtaining a shared high-end instrumentation grant from NIH to set up a Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging facility at Harvard Medical School. The system is now up and running on the ground floor of the Goldenson Building.Bob Zimmerman, MSEE, the current director of Physics and Engineering for the Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine, has been named the Technical Director of the new research SPECT facility. Zimmerman will work closely with Ash Mahmood, PhD and his colleagues in the Experimental Nuclear Medicine Group on a variety of new SPECT molecular-imaging applications. In addition, Drs. Georges El Fakhri and Marie Kijewski have joined the Nuclear Medicine Division, with part-time clinical physics and research responsibilities.
