On Thursday, March 18, Faulkner Hospital helped kick off the sixth annual Boston Heart Party, sponsored by Pfizer, Inc. and Boston area health care providers and employers, including BWH. The Boston Heart Party encourages women and their loved ones to educate themselves about cardiovascular disease (CVD) and raise awareness about risk factors like high blood pressure and cholesterol. Free CVD risk factor screenings to check blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose were open to all women age 35 and over, their families and friends. Participants, like Boston City Council member Maura Hennigan (pictured, right) also had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with health care professionals, including Lana Wolff, RN (pictured, left), vice president of Nursing at Faulkner Hospital, who spoke about screening results and provided literature on CVD prevention. Screenings will continue through Sunday, May 9. For more information and for a list of screening sites, log on to www.bostonheartparty.com or call Kate Weiss at 617-933-5028. For BWH-specific screenings, call 1-800-BWH-9999.
