Obituary
On January 11, staff at Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center honored social worker Nancy MacDougall, who retired this past fall after 28 years of service, by dedicating the center's conference room in her name, Executive Director Linda Jo Stern and MacDougall hold the plaque that will hang at the health center's year-old facility at 640 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. Motivated by a strong belief in serving the Jamaica Plain community, MacDougall persistently chipped away at barriers to health care encountered by the economically disadvantaged. “Nancy opened SJPHC to all residents of our community,” said Stern, citing in particular MacDougall's work with people who grappled with mid-life issues and suffered from severe depression and problems stemming from substance abuse. “It's been an honor for me to work with Nancy.”
