BWH Medical Library's Online Resources
Almost without fail, each newly licensed nurse has the same reaction to nurse educator Martha Griffin's explanation of the BWH Medical Library's online resources: “Wow.”
That's what NLNs say when they see the massive list of databases and nursing journals available to them at their desktops. The Medical Library's online resources for nurses include: Journal of Nursing Administration, AAACN Clinical Issues, Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing and Nursing Research.
While the doors to BWH's Medical Library on Thorn 1 are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the library's vast resources are available 24-7 by a click of the mouse on computer desktops.
Medical Library Director Anne Fladger explained that the library is reaching out beyond its traditional users such as medical staff, interns and residents, as nurses and physical therapists have been increasingly taking advantage of the resources over the last year.
Griffin said she routinely uses the online resources when researching workplace nursing issues and internal education issues.
