Housestaff Honor Nurses
Each year, for the Housestaff Nursing Awards, residents select and thank the nurses who have made an indelible impact on their education by teaching them about the teamwork and compassion needed to truly care for patients. The number of nurses and nominees reached an all-time high this year - 66 for BWH nurses alone-a testament to the important role nurses play in educating residents.
"We honor not only the nurses who were nominated for these awards, but all the nurses who care for our patients-and for us-throughout our years of residency," said Emily Wroe, MD, a resident in the Department of Medicine. "They have been role models for us, and taught us much of what we know about being physicians and part of a care team."
The award, established in 2001 by the Internal Medicine Housestaff, recognizes the outstanding service and commitment to care by nurses at BWH, Faulkner and the Boston/West Roxbury Veteran's Administration Health Care System.
Award recipients and finalists were honored in June at a luncheon celebration.
