Friedlander, Kaiser Elected to ASCI
Robert Friedlander, MD, Department of Neurosurgery, and Ursula B. Kaiser, MD, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension, Department of Medicine, were elected into the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI). The induction ceremony takes place in Chicago this month.
Friedlander’s election to ASCI marks the society’s third neurosurgeon in the country to be elected. His clinical interests include aneurysms and vascular malformations, brain tumors, carotid disease, cerebrovascular disease and vascular anomalies. “It is a tremendous personal honor for me to be elected to the ASCI,” Friedlander said. “ASCI reflects the mission of BWH, particularly as it pertains to the advancement of research that extends our understanding and improves the treatment of human diseases.”
Kaiser’s clinical interests include disorders of pituitary function, reproductive disorders and neuroendocrinology. Her research focuses on the neuroendocrine regulation of reproductive function. Kaiser said, “It is an honor to have our scientific accomplishments recognized. This honor reflects the wonderful work and contributions of each member of my research team at BWH.”
The ASCI was founded in 1908 and is one of the nation’s oldest medical honor societies, with more than 2,800 physician-scientists recognized for their scholarly achievement in biomedical research.
