Letter from the Chief Medical Officer
Dear Colleagues:
Whether we receive our hospital news in the Physician Lunch Room, from the bulletin board on the Pike with news from F Main or via e-mail, intranets and the Internet, Brigham and Women’s Hospital physicians and scientists always have been proud to hear about our colleagues’ successes and institutional accomplishments. With thousands of talented researchers and clinicians committed to our mission, there is a constant stream of news and happenings at BWH.
Welcome to our latest vehicle to bring you that news. This is the inaugural issue of BWH Clinical & Research News, a bi-monthly, full-color, internal publication that highlights our commitment to safe, high-quality patient care, groundbreaking research and education. Clinical & Research News follows its predecessor publications, BWH Medical Staff News, BWPO Advocate and Professional Staff Update, which dates back to the 1970s.
This latest change of name is an effort to be more reflective and inclusive of our robust research community, which includes approximately 1,000 principle investigators, 850 postdoctoral fellows and many more technical, administrative and support staff. Research always has demanded and received a prominent place on the pages of PSU, MSN and all our publications, and now it’s part of the masthead.
Our editorial intentions remain no matter the name: we strive to bring you updated information on hospital events, initiatives and issues that are essential to our roles as care providers, researchers and educators and highlight our many research, clinical and business successes. Our editorial board, comprised of Jessica Dudley, MD, chief medical office of the BWPO, Sharon Cohen, administrative director of the PO, Cynthia Morton, PhD, BRI director, PO Chairman Robert Barbieri, MD, and myself, works closely with Public Affairs to set direction and plan content for this publication.
Input and feedback is welcomed and received from every corner of the hospital. Feel free to e-mail us at BWHClinicalandResearchNews@partners.org, and thank you for providing so much content and, as always, for reading.
