Jerome Richie, MD, chief of the Division of Urology, met with Governor Romney along with other area physicians and prostate cancer survivors at the State House this past week declaring September “National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.” As experts estimate, 221,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed and it will be responsible for 29,000 deaths this year. Attendees stressed the importance of routine screening and early detection.
