The Boston Center, a Partners-affiliated skilled nursing care facility, is a recipient of the American Health Care Association’s (AHCA) Quality Award. This national award was established in 1996 to respond to the need for quantifiable indicators of quality and to better reflect the growing trends in quality management and performance management in long-term care. “We acknowledge the Boston Center staff for their achievement at this level and wish them well in the upcoming year as they seek to be the one facility in the nation recognized at the final step,” said David Storto, president of Partners Continuing Care. In 2002, the Boston Center was recognized as a step one recipient, with 67 of the 16,000 facilities nationwide achieving this level of recognition. This year’s 2003 process recognized the Boston Center as one out of only 11 of the 16,000 facilities nationwide achieving step two recognition. The Boston Center works with Brigham and Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals to provide sub-acute and skilled nursing care. The Boston Center will officially receive the step two 2003 AHCA Quality Award at the association’s annual convention in California this October.
