BWH Patient Safety Week BWH celebrates Patient Safety Week March 17-23. Attend "High Reliability - From Aviation to Health Care," March 19, 12:15-1 p.m., in the Shapiro Breakout Room for a talk by Paul LeSage, who will draw on his distinguished career as a lead flight paramedic, assistant fire chief and other roles to share lessons learned from high-consequence industries. In addition, a new patient safety award will recognize staff for promoting safety and implementing new and innovative ideas in their department. Nominate yourself or a colleague, and have the chance to win a Kindle Paperwhite. You can submit a nomination by 4 p.m. on March 31.
ICD-10 Training Update An ICD-10 training coordinator has now been identified for each department/clinical area. Coordinators must attend one of the informational sessions, beginning the week of March 17. During these sessions, coordinators will receive a complete employee listing by department, learn which employees require ICD-10 HealthStream training and receive information about what courses may be appropriate for employees based on their roles (courses will be assigned at manager discretion). A Guide Through Dementia Patient Care Services' Caregiver Committee will host three presentations that will focus on different aspects of dementia. The programs are meant to help people caring for family members or friends with this condition. Events are from 1 to 2 p.m., April 11, May 28 and June 10 in Bornstein Amphitheater. Crosstown Shuttle Changes A new streamlined Crosstown Shuttle route went into effect earlier this month. The shuttle now stops at Crosstown, the corner of Huntington and Longwood Ave., outside of 15 Francis St. and in front of the Shapiro Center. Passengers who are traveling to 221 Longwood Ave. should now use the stop at the corner of Huntington and Longwood. Learn more and see the new schedule at BWHPikeNotes.org.
