Callahan Tunnel Project Major construction activity has begun on the Callahan Tunnel, which connects Boston's North End to Logan International Airport and Route 1A to East Boston. This project will rehabilitate tunnel decks, curbing and wall panels. Both lanes of the tunnel will be closed to all traffic for approximately two and a half months, and then nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for four months. More information will be shared when available.
Primary Care at BWH Currently, all BWH primary care practices (except the Phyllis Jen Center, Brigham Circle Medical Associates and Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center in Foxborough) are accepting new patients. View which physicians have openings. You may also call 855-244-0012, a dedicated line for BWH and BWFH employees to access primary care.
Job Shadow Day, Jan. 31 Make a difference and inspire youths of today to become leaders of tomorrow's workforce. BWH Workforce Development is looking for departments to host students for half a day for the 19th annual Job Shadow Day on Friday, Jan. 31. This is a great opportunity for youths to shadow a professional and learn about different careers within the health care industry. Employee Wellness Programs Kick-start the new year by signing up for one of the Cardiovascular Wellness Service's new employee wellness programs, which include Zumba, cardio kickboxing, gentle hatha yoga, Weight Watchers at Work and a cardiovascular risk reduction program for Latina women. All classes are held in the Shapiro 3rd floor porch and are available to BWH employees. For more information or to register, visit the Cardiovascular Wellness Service online.
Heart & Vascular Center Launch The BWH Heart & Vascular Center will host a special program celebrating its launch Jan. 22, 3:30-5 p.m., at the Joseph Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School. The program will include a presentation by inaugural visiting professor Kim Eagle, MD, MACC, director of the Cardiovascular Center at the University of Michigan, as well as remarks by Heart & Vascular Center co-directors Mandeep Mehra, MD, and John Byrne, MD, along with BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD.
