BWH Research Day Nov. 15
This day-long celebration of research at BWH will feature a welcome breakfast and discussion hosted by hospital leadership, more than 150 research posters, a keynote address by Atul Gawande, MD, MPH, and an awards ceremony to announce the first BRIght Futures Prize winner. New England Compounding Center
BWH continues to monitor the situation with New England Compounding Center (NECC), a Framingham-based pharmacy that is under investigation for contaminated medications. Global Health in Obstetrics and Gynecology
This course, directed by Nawal Nour, MD, MPH, will be held Oct. 25 and 26 at the Revere Hotel (200 Stuart Street, Boston). It will feature a series of guest speakers, panel discussions and workshops on health topics that women in resource-poor nations face. For more information, call 617-384-8600.
Volunteer with Elementary School Students
The Center for Community Health and Health Equity is seeking employees to volunteer at nearby elementary schools. Book Buddies will read to classrooms once a month for 30 minutes, and BWH Science Club volunteers will lead hands-on science projects with a group of four students for one hour every week for six weeks. ICD-10 Implementation Update
BWH is transitioning from ICD-9 diagnosis and inpatient procedure codes to ICD-10, which provides greater clinical detail and better epidemiological tracking. The compliance date for the transition is October 1, 2014. Visit BWHPikeNotes.org to learn more.
Forms Committee Submissions
The new BWH Forms Policy and Guidelines include rules for designing clinical forms to be included in the Medical Record and defines the process for obtaining BWH Forms Subcommittee approval. The policy can be found on BWHPikeNotes.org in the Administrative Policy Manual.
