With nearly 1,000 principal investigators and a community of more than 6,000 scientists, trainees and administrators who represent all departments and work in more than 40 locations, BWH is a remarkable place for research.
Although the research community is united by its scientific achievements and dedication to discovery, members of the research community consistently point to communications as one area that needs improvement. This spring, the BWH Biomedical Research Institute and the Department of Communication & Public Affairs are working together to change that.
“We want to hear from the research community to understand what the barriers to communication are. We want to ensure that we shape an effective communication strategy for, to and among our research colleagues,” said Barbara Bierer, MD, senior vice president of Research.
This spring, Bierer and Erin McDonough, MBA, senior vice president of Communication & Public Affairs, are hosting three open meetings to discuss opportunities and challenges in communications among researchers and to the broader community about researchers’ work and accomplishments.
“Hearing directly from our researchers will help us develop a communication strategy that meets their needs and ensures that news of their many accomplishments is communicated to the internal and external audiences effectively,” said McDonough. “This is a unique opportunity for our research community to share their challenges and ideas. I encourage all to attend.”
These events will take place on the following dates, and a box lunch will be provided after the meetings. To RSVP and learn more, visit BWHPikeNotes.org or http://bwhbri.partners.org/
