Nine BWH investigators received Research Excellence Awards from the BWH Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) last month.
A poster session and reception featured 60 junior investigators who submitted abstracts for posters. Thomas Kupper, MD, director of the BRI, praised the researchers who participated.
“It is a privilege for the BWH BRI to be able to acknowledge our young researchers for their hard work and outstanding dedication to biomedical research at the Brigham. The event proved very successful, and we look forward to continuing this tradition annually,” he said.
The BRI reached its capacity for posters within the first few hours of accepting submissions. Through their work, the authors demonstrated the breadth of research carried out at BWH.
“People are our most precious resource and our future. We are honored that you are here doing this great research,” BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, said to the researchers at the event. “These awards are intended to recognize this and foster the development of young careers.”
The awards were made possible through a philanthropic gift from the Partners Research Accelerator Program.
“Last year’s award recipients used the award money to further their research and career development in tangible ways, such as traveling to scientific meetings,” said Jacqueline Slavik, PhD, administrative director of the BRI.
