On Friday, October 25, the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center awarded Martin Leber Scholarships to Ismenia Nova of Roslindale, a student at Bryman Institute studying to be a medical assistant, and to Amagdalita Simon of Hyde Park, a student at Curry College, who plans to enter the nursing field.
The Martin Leber Scholarship Award was established in honor of Leber to commemorate his many years of service as a pediatrician at the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center. Leber was instrumental in establishing the Health Center as a major provider of pediatric care in Jamaica Plain, with thousands of children and parents benefiting from his expert care. Leber left the health center in 2000 and maintains an active private practice in Newton.
