Sixty children will have a brighter holiday, thanks to the staff at Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center (SJPHC).
When SJPHC staff realized many of their patients didn’t have the means to buy Christmas gifts for their children, they organized an effort to help.
Rosina Guerrero, case manager, Jamie Wyatt, LCSW, MPH, pediatric medical social worker, Idalia Carrasco, MSW, advocate for Passageway, Christine Forget, BSN, RN, Women’s Health nurse, and Regina Harvey, MHA, RN, nurse manager, put their heads together and identified 19 families going through difficult times. Then they asked staff at SJPHC to consider “adopting a child” for the holidays.
“The response from everyone was overwhelming,” Guerrero said. “People have donated gifts of clothing, toys and other items.”
