BWH kicks off the BWH, United Way: Power of Community Campaign.
Christine F. Collins, director of Patient Access Services, and Bill Churchill, director of Pharmacy Services, have been tapped to serve as co-chairs of the Oct. 16 to 31 campaign. The fund-raising effort got off to an informal start this week, as BWH designated more than 50 Power of Community ambassadors to bring the positive message of the United Way and all it does to their department colleagues.
“The United Way is very supportive of the causes many of us at BWH hold close to our hearts, and it supports a cadre of different agencies,” Collins said. “And the community-building efforts of the United Way are closely aligned with BWH’s mission.”
The United Way of Massachusetts Bay (UWMB) supports a network of 259 non-profit agencies engaged in direct service delivery focusing on healthy childhood development, increasing youth opportunities, sustainable employment and affordable housing. Last year, UWMB provided funding for emotional and developmental support for more than 151,751 children 6 years old and younger and after-school programs for 482,299 youths between the ages of 7 and 18.
The two-week campaign features dozens of raffles BWHers can enter in exchange for a donation. Raffle prizes include one month of free parking at BWH, a gift certificate to Bella Sante Day Spa on Newbury Street and a slew of tickets to sporting events. There’s also a grand prize of a week-long vacation trip anywhere in the continental U.S. that includes airfare and accommodations at a Marriott.
Make a donation through automatic payroll deductions through PeopleSoft or check with your department Power of Community ambassador. Be sure to check out bwhpikenotes.org for details.
