Sharon Vitti, the department administrator for Obstetrics and Gynecology for the last two years, this week was named new vice president of Clinical Services. She begins in her new capacity overseeing Women's Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology, New Born Medicine and Ambulatory Services in February.
"Sharon has demonstrated true leadership and vision in helping shape OB/GYN's strategic, financial, teaching, research and clinical goals," BWH Chief Operating Officer Kate Walsh said in announcing Vitti's appointment. "Sharon brings new ideas to help the hospital meet and exceed its growth and development goals, and she will make significant contributions to our mission of excellent patient care."
Vitti has a master's degree in Public Administration from New York University and a bachelor's degree in psychology and biology from Clark University. She joined BWH as OB/GYN department administrator in March 2004 after spending six years as a senior manager in health care consulting. She also has held administrative leadership positions at the former New England Deaconess Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
"I am looking forward to working with the talented clinicians, care providers and researchers in Women's Health to continue their great work and further the BWH strategic goals," Vitti said.
Beyond Women's Health, Vitti feels there is a tremendous opportunity for BWH to enhance ambulatory services and patient care. As a testament to the BWH leadership's commitment to focusing on ambulatory, Vitti becomes BWH's first vice-president level leader dedicated to ambulatory services.
