NICU Staff Welcome Back Old Friends
Strollers filled the Harvard Medical School Quadrangle as BWH welcomed former Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients and their families to a very special reunion on Sunday. Fun activities were plentiful as a crowd of nearly 1,000, mostly
4 year olds and younger, enjoyed a sun-drenched afternoon celebrating their common ground-their experiences in Brigham and Women's Hospital NICU.
Many of the NICU grads, now toddlers and preschoolers, were walking, talking and interacting with Tigger, Winnie the Pooh and other characters who stopped by for some photo opportunities. Face painting, rounds of the hokey pokey and a train-shaped inflated moonwalk rounded out the fun-packed afternoon.
Following formal remarks by hospital leadership and testimonials from families of four graduates, several older NICU graduates cut the 350-pound cake prepared by BWH Catering to commemorate this event that proved to be fun for the whole family.
