In an effort to further diversity at BWH and in health care, BWH Workforce Development awarded its first college scholarships to four Boston high school graduates who will pursue careers in health care.
“This program is a very important part of our strategy,” President Gary Gottlieb told recipients at the Aug. 10 ceremony. “Health care is dependent on the great work of skilled people. You help us have a workforce diverse enough, rich enough and skilled enough to reflect the community we serve.”
Keynote speaker Gina DeShazer, RN, assistant nurse manager of Diversity, shared with the students the lessons she learned as she began her career in Nursing, offering advice, encouragement and inspiration.
