Altman Visits BWH
Stuart Altman, PhD, Sol C. Chaikin Professor of National Health Policy at Brandeis University, visited BWH last Wednesday to discuss “The Future of the American Healthcare System” and the rising cost of healthcare in America, saying that the “ability to predict healthcare cost is abysmal.” Ron Walls, MD, chief of Emergency Medicine, introduced Altman as one of the most “powerful voices in healthcare policy.” Altman’s discussion was the first of its kind, hosted jointly by the Harvard Medical School Emergency Residency Program, Harvard School of Public Health and the Brigham and Women’s Physicians Organization.
