While many of us look forward to the weekend to catch up on chores and yardwork and enjoy an outdoor barbecue, a few staff and employees from BWH and Brookside Community Health Center took these summer rituals one step further. Instead of spending their Saturday afternoon at home, they visited the McInnis House, an inpatient facility for homeless individuals. On Saturday, June 15, members of the hospital’s Committee on Homelessness volunteered their services, helping to support the shelter’s clean-up efforts, assisting with a cook-out and organizing a Bingo Game for McInnis House residents.
The McInnis House, founded in 1985, is a 72-bed inpatient facility, which provides services to homeless individuals who are not in need of hospital level care. BWH has had an ongoing relationship with the facility, providing medical assistance and support.
