According to Marlene Freeley, MS, RN, director of BWH Occupational Health Services, the greatest barrier to promoting the flu immunization program is that even the most sophisticated heath care workers still have many misconceptions and misinformation about the flu vaccine. “For example, people believe they can get the “flu” from the flu shot, which is totally inaccurate,” said Freeley. “The vaccine is made with an inactivated virus that cannot cause infection.”
