Steven and Lynne Burke of Stoneham held off celebrating the New Year until 44 minutes after midnight on January 1. At that time, they became the proud, first-time parents of a healthy 6 lb., 4 oz. baby boy and BWH’s first baby of 2002. Ian James Burke’s special birthday also spawned a unique family tradition. With mom born on Christmas Day and dad on Thanksgiving, Ian’s New Year’s delivery has kept the holiday birthday routine all in the family.
“I was not even thinking about the possibility of having a New Year’s baby, said Lynne, who was originally due on January 5. “My thoughts were focused on delivering a healthy, happy baby.”
“We are thrilled to have the gift of our son Ian start the new year, said his father, Steven. “With a new house and new baby, our family has much to look forward to in 2002.”
BWH presented the Burke family with a congratulatory gift basket filled with baby items and treats.
