May is a special month every year. Amidst the awakening of spring and moderating temperatures, blooming flowers, shrubs and plants, we recognize and celebrate all nurses. It seems appropriate to me that we celebrate nursing across the nation at this time of rebirth and renewal.
At Brigham and Women’s Hospital we have established a tradition of recognizing the roles of nurses at this hospital. A year ago, I arrived here to learn that you each represent the lynchpin to our success. Your commitment and dedication to our patients even under the most intense challenges is admirable and well deserving of our respect.
I can think of very few places as professionally challenging and rewarding as Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and I can think of no other place where nurses are so highly regarded. I want to offer my personal thanks to each of you. Arriving in an organization of this size and stature is never an easy undertaking. However, you have made my first year here a truly wonderful experience.
While Nurse Recognition Week only occurs once a year, please accept my warmest gratitude and appreciation for all of your efforts every week of the year. You make me proud to be associated with a team so dedicated to quality and compassion.
Sincerely,
Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN
