Scutt, Ruth Win NERBNA Excellence in Nursing Award
Chantale Scutt, RN, NIC on Tower 11C, and M. Christina Ruth RN, of the NICU, received the New England Regional Black Nurses Association Excellence in Nursing Award earlier this year.
Joyce Thomas Browning, RN, nurse manager of the Thoracic Surgical Unit, praised Scutt for her communication skills that distinguish her as a role model. “Chantale is instrumental in working with staff around implementation and evaluation of new practices. She constantly collaborates with physicians and colleagues from all disciplines to ensure standards of care are met and goes above and beyond to ensure patient care needs are met,” she said.
Ruth, who was born in Africa and has worked as a midwife and nurse in Ireland, Scotland and Canada before coming to BWH’s NICU more than 15 years ago, is an asset to the entire NICU team and always thinks about the patient and family.
“Christina is an outstanding nurse who thinks about our patients and their families in a multi-dimensional way,” said Marianne Cummings, MS, RN, nurse manager of the NICU.
