Arthur Day, MD has been named director of the Cerebrovascular Center, director of the Division of Cerebrovascular Surgery within the Department of Neurosurgery, and associate chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at BWH.
Day is one of the leading neurosurgeons in the country, specializing in cerebrovascular conditions including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, carotid artery disease and other causes of stroke.
Prior to accepting this new role at BWH, Day served as co-chairman and program director of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Florida. In addition to serving as professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Florida, Day was the James and Newton Eblen Eminent Scholar in Cerebrovascular Surgery, an appointment he has held since 1990. While at the University of Florida, Day also served as the neurosurgeon consultant to the Athletic Department, offering his clinical expertise in neck and head injuries and trauma to a vast collegiate sports program.
Day holds several leadership posts at a variety of academic societies and professional associations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Academy of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. He is the guest editor of Stroke and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease and Neurosurgery.

As director of the BWH’s Cerebrovascular Center, Dr. Day will take on the role of coordinating the work of neurologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, and Emergency Department physicians to create a world-class stroke center here.”
Day is scheduled to start July 1.
