Dear Colleagues:
As we discuss compliance in the context of upcoming surveys and audits, it is also a time for us to showcase the various measures we enlist to mitigate risk and improve quality across the institution. The benefits realized from the early days of Computerized Order Entry to our current eMAR implementation are quite impressive.
I commend the Patient Safety Team and the Center for Clinical Excellence for all of their hard work and collaboration with the hospital’s various disciplines to continually improve quality and safety measures across the institution.
One of the very reasons why patients seek our care and expertise is our careful attention to risk and error prevention. The changes to our compliance monitoring process, along with more frequent visits from regulatory agencies, can only better us as we continue to provide highly specialized care to a growing number of patients.
As we move toward a new and improved survey preparation process at BWH, it betters us as an organization to more frequently assess our strengths and weaknesses in patient safety and compliance.
Sincerely yours,
Steven Seltzer, MD
