Dear Colleagues:
Our commitment to staff satisfaction and organizational improvement willcontinue with BWH’s third Staff Survey to be distributed in May. Our ability to consistently recruit and retain professional staff, to outperform our competition, to sustain our high level of performance and to serve as a leading academic medical center, is linked to our attention and response to the survey.
We believe that one of the best ways to drive staff satisfaction and commitment is by soliciting feedback from staff, and following up on that feedback.
Since the first survey, conducted in 1999, significant gains on staff satisfaction have occurred. Continuing such polling allows the hospital to modify its structure and procedures based on the feedback of those most responsible for carrying out both.
BWH has once again joined forces with the Leadership Research Institute to assist with the planning and execution of this year’s survey. As with each incremental survey, participation goals have increased. This year’s goal is 45 percent. We are counting on chair and chief leadership to encourage a higher response rate to receive valuable feedback from the full spectrum of medical staff at BWH.
The Staff Survey is an important tool to guide BWH to enhance leader and organizational effectiveness, and advance staff satisfaction and commitment. I encourage you to take part and promote the effort with staff and colleagues. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Andy Whittemore, MD
Chief Medical Officer
