Meet Janet Kessin
National Nurses Week is May 6-12
With a little help from The Friends
In the Family Liaison department, since 1993, Janet Kessin has devoted her many skills to volunteer work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Although she volunteers primarily in Admitting, she also assists in the Volunteer Department regularly. The dedication she gives to both groups has made her the first—and only—volunteer to be nominated as a Volunteer of the Year by two separate hospital departments. Her multitasking abilities and incredible organizational skills have allowed her to help patients, staff, and the hospital as a whole. During the United Way campaign, Janet went above and beyond the call of duty—in addition to properly preparing over 10,000 personalized mailings, she would take work home to assure its timely delivery. In the admitting department, in addition to her many other tasks, Janet facilitates a great deal of the communications sent to physicians. Plus, her careful planning guarantees that the supplies her departments need will last through the winter, and until she returns in the spring. The outstanding pride in, and dedication to, her work is what makes Janet a truly exceptional volunteer. Volunteers of the Year will be recognized at a celebration on May 4 at 4:30 p.m. in the Bornstein Amphitheater.
