Ebola preparedness is in high gear across BWHC as specialized, dedicated teams of front-line clinicians have been training in donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE) in the STRATUS Center and elsewhere, and completing patient care scenarios while wearing the protective equipment. Three town meetings were held this week to update employees on BWHC’s response and preparedness efforts should a suspected Ebola patient present to BWH or BWFH. Training is also being conducted in the Emergency Department (ED), Phyllis Jen Center, Shapiro 8 and Clinical Labs, with Environmental Services and staff in ambulatory areas, with the goal of preparing staff to safely and effectively respond to a potential Ebola situation with confidence and skill. Drills and training sessions will continue next week.
