This past fall, BWH held its most successful campaign to date for United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, raising a grand total of $200,000.
"Every year, BWH makes a tremendous difference in our community through employees' generous contributions to United Way," said Jackie Somerville, PhD, RN, chief nursing officer and senior vice president of Patient Care Services. "We raised the bar this year with our fundraising goal, and we thank all those who participated, including our dedicated campaign committee."
Somerville, Chief Medical Officer Stan Ashley, MD, and Brigham and Women's Physicians Organization President Allen Smith, MD, MS, co-chaired the campaign, the theme of which was "United in the Mission of Caring." Donations help families afford basic needs, such as food and heating oil, as well as programs for sustainable employment, affordable housing and youth opportunities.
During the campaign, donors won raffle prizes including a mountain bike, Patriots helmet signed by Tom Brady and flat screen TV. The grand prize winner of a trip for two to anywhere in the continental U.S. was Clifford Haas, operations manager for the Hematology Division.
