Joint Replacement Surgeries HVMA’s Robert Miegel, MD and BWH’s Wolfgang Fitz, MD will soon perform primary joint replacement surgeries at Faulkner Hospital. Miegel will begin procedures in Faulkner ORs on Nov. 18, and Fitz will conduct procedures in early December. This addition serves as an expansion of the BW/F orthopedic program growth strategy and combined collaboration with HVMA. In addition to adding to the number of surgeries, subsequent inpatient stays will result as well.
JCAHO survey Faulkner Hospital has received a confirmation letter from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), which states that the hospital received a score of 92 as a result of the JCAHO survey conducted on October 15, 16 and 17.
“Our score is a result of a tremendous effort put forth by our staff, physicians, Board members and all others who clearly demonstrated the best that Faulkner has to offer,” said Faulkner president David Trull, who explained that the minor administrative recommendations cited by JCAHO were all administrative in nature and easily correctible. “The results speak well to the clinical processes we have in place at Faulkner Hospital,” he added.
Faulkner will again be surveyed in another three years. BWH is up for its JCAHO survey in January 2004. Faulkner and BWH are surveyed separately.
