George White, supervisor for Receiving in Materials Management, spends his summers and a good part of his year making a difference in the lives of Boston youths. Last month, he was honored for this work by the Red Sox Foundation, which funds and supports the Boston Area Church League.
White is a divisional leader in the league, which brings together at-risk kids ages 10 – 14 to play baseball.
“Kids from all different ethnic backgrounds across the city come together, and that teaches them that you can interact with anyone if you try,” he said. “The kids really enjoy it, and they learn valuable lessons.”
White has been with the league for four years, first as a coach and now as a divisional leader responsible for 60 kids on four teams.
