Beginning Monday, Sept.10, BWH Health Information Services (HIS) will begin the hospital’s second annual clinical systems audit to review staff and employee access to three systems: BICS Clinical Information (CI), the Longitudinal Medical Record (LMR) and the Clinical Data Repository (CDR, results).
The successful completion of this audit, which will be conducted Sept. 10 through Oct. 5, is integral to hospital-wide efforts to remain compliant with HIPAA Privacy and Security laws and ensure the privacy and safety of patients.
Staff who manage direct reports listed in Peoplesoft and have access to BICS CI, the LMR and/or CDR, will receive an e-mail on Sept. 10 with a link to the Clinical Systems Audit Web site. Managers will review employees’ access to systems, keep or remove employee access to the BICS CI, the LMR and/or CDR applications only. Employees who are not listed in Peoplesoft will not appear on the list.
Contact Martha Hamel, HIPAA compliance project manager, with questions at mhamel@partners.org or ext. 2-6676.
