BWH recently earned the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) distinction for 2007.
About 10 percent of hospitals in the nation apply for and receive this award, presented by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). Last year, BWH was the only acute care academic health care institution in Boston to receive this award.
“We are proud to receive this recognition from our national organization, and we will display the QRCR certificate in the department offices,” said Paul Nuccio, RRT, FAARC, technical director for Respiratory Care.
The AARC’s QRCR program grew out of increasing concerns among health care leaders and the general public regarding the safety and quality of health care services provided to patients. Hospitals that meet QRCR requirements provide a level of respiratory care consistent with national standards and guidelines and should be commended for their commitment to quality care, according to the AARC.
