Partners HealthCare several years ago launched a series of initiatives to improve quality, safety and efficiency through the use of electronic medical records, computerized ordering of drugs and tests, patient tracking systems, and disease management and nurse coaching programs for our sickest patients. This effort addresses widely recognized problems in health care today and ensures that Partners remains a leader in patient care.
Over the past several months, Partners has been running ads in The Boston Globe to let the public know about the work to improve quality, safety and efficiency throughout the Partners system. These ads have included the tagline, “High Performance Medicine,” which is Partners’ new way of describing these quality improvement efforts.
This week, a series of posters will debut in hospital hallways and clinician areas that communicate the goals of High Performance Medicine. Shortly, a new screensaver will appear on all Partners computers highlighting the goals and successes of High Performance Medicine. This screensaver will replace the current screensaver that features the Partners logo, but will operate in the same way.
While the goals of High Performance Medicine affect Partners clinicians most directly, it is important to remember that every employee contributes to the life-saving work that takes place at Partners every day. As a result, all employees are encouraged to learn more about High Performance Medicine by visiting www.partners.org For additional information about High Performance Medicine in a special issue of Partners Rounds, visit http://clinicalaffairs.partners.org/content/10-06_Partners%20Rounds.pdf
