Last month, New England's Best Workplaces for CommutersSM Coalition announced what countless BWH employees have already discovered—BWH provides superior commuter benefits. As one of 113 regional employers to be awarded the designation by the United States Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency this year, BWH met the criteria for providing incentives and convenience to its employees and helping to reduce traffic and air pollution in Massachusetts.
BWH earned its place on the list by offering benefits such as excellent MBTA pass and parking space subsidies. According to Robert Chicarello, assistant director of Security, an average of 4,100 employees per month are currently taking advantage of the 50 percent subsidy offered on MBTA passes, while 4889 registered employees are enjoying parking rates at a 20-70 percent discount. In addition, BWH provides carpools, vanpools, bike racks, cab vouchers, emergency rides home and a free 24-hour shuttle service in order to make the lives of commuting employees easier. "With the limited supply of parking in the Longwood Medical Area, our employees know the importance of reserving as many spaces as possible for our patients," said Art Momborquette, vice president, Support Services. "I appreciate all of our employees who are enrolled in commuter programs and who take advantage of public transportation and car pool options."
Employees interested in learning more about the commuting options offered by BWH can call the Parking Office at 617-732-5877.
