The BWH Medical Library is officially open in its new Thorn 1 location, offering a full array of services to all BWH staff.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony this week launched the library’s updated facility. The new space includes additional computers and access for laptops. The library also houses a collection of medical texts, medical and nursing journals – both print and electronic, database resources, and Internet access. Library staff can provide reference assistance in person or by phone, fax or email. Inter-library loan and document delivery services are also available.
“So far people are very happy with the space and resources,” said Anne Fladger, director, Medical Library. “The windows and natural light make it a great place for people to study and read.”
In addition, the library’s new location provides more local access for staff members. “It is great to have the library here instead of in the Tower. It is a closer, brighter space, and it is much more welcoming,” said Christine Abbott, NP, Occupational Health.
