BWH named a Top 100 Hospital
For the eighth year in a row, BWH has been named one of the nation’s top performing hospitals in the HCIA-Sachs 100 Top Hospitals—Benchmarks for Success. BWH remains the only hospital in the country to be included every year of the prestigious award’s existence, and is one of two to make both this list and US News and World Report’s list of top ten hospitals in 2000. “Selection to the Top 100 list for eight consecutive years is a tremendous and remarkable honor,” said BWH President Jeffrey Otten. “During an era when many hospitals are struggling to survive, this award identifies BWH as a strong institution that delivers cost-efficient, high-quality patient care. Our success truly reflects the talent, commitment, and hard work of the doctors, nurses, employees, and volunteers who make up BWH.” The study focuses on statistical data from general short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S. Hospitals are placed in one of five peer groups according to geographic location, beds in service, and teaching status. BWH was included in the category fornon-profit teaching hospitals with more than 400 beds. The Top 100 study is conducted annually by HCIA-Sachs, a health care information company. This year’s list was published in the December 11 issues of Modern Healthcare. A summary of the study can be found on
