JCAHO Training Schedule
Employee Health Standards, Safety and Security Standards, JCAHO Resource Session and Human Resources Standards training sessions are taking place throughout November to prepare for the January 2001 JCAHO Survey. Employees are encouraged to take at least one session of each of the standards to help them prepare for the survey. Call ext. 1116 for the entire schedule or to register. November 4-12
TB Screenings/Flu Vaccines
Connors Center Lobby 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Quarterly TB screening for employees with birthdays in October, November and December will be in the Connors Center lobby on November 4-12 from 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. In addition, walk-in hours for TB screening in the Occupational Health Services (OHS) clinics are 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday-Wednesday and Friday. Also, employee flu vaccines will be administered through OHS from November 4-12 from 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Connors Center lobby. After November 12, the vaccine will be given in the OHS clinics from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call ext. 6034 for more information on TB screenings and/or flu vaccines. November 5-11
National Health Information and Technology (HI&T) Week
Health Information and Technology Week honors the professionals in that field who make a difference by managing, analyzing and utilizing data vital for patient care, and by making the data accessible to healthcare providers when it is needed most. November 6
Gift Shop Expanded Hours
Starting Monday, November 6, the Gift Shop will be expanding its hours to Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday-Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-5 p.m. New merchandise arrives daily—stop by and see the selection of fine gifts, children's toys and books, clothing, chocolates, flowers and more. New items are also arriving for the holiday season. A large assortment of personalized stationary and personalized holiday and photo cards are now available. Visit the Gift Shop to see samples. All proceeds from sales are returned to the hospital in the form of equipment and services. November 9

This seminar—presented by Judy Osborne, licensed marriage and family therapist, LMHC-Stepfamily Associates—will offer guidance about how to minimize tensions your family may experience during this season. BWH Town Meeting 11 a.m.
Bornstein Amphitheater The next BWH Town Meeting will be hosted by Vice-President of Human Resources Cheryl Locke. It will feature an open discussion with President Jeff Otten, Chief Operating Officer Matt Van Vranken and Chief Medical Officer Andy Whittemore and will be in the Bornstein Amphitheater, located along the second floor Pike, between exits 5 and 6. Thomson Leadership Award Nomination Deadline
Nomination forms for the second annual Dennis J. Thomson Leadership Award are due by November 17. The regular business offices of BWH will be closed. Upcoming Prepare for JCAHO with Finishing Touches The PREPAIRE Team has completed Finishing Touches, 3rd Edition. Finishing Touches provides employees with an overall understanding of what will take place during the January 2001 JCAHO Survey and the questions each employee needs to be prepared to answer. A manager's checklist of items that need to be completed and/or reviewed is also included.
