Ask Yourself: Are you ready for JCAHO?
Although the staff positions at BWH vary in responsibilities, certain HR standards need to be met by everyone. • Licensure—At BWH, all employees who are required to have a professional license, registration or certification for their positions should ensure their managers are provided with the most up-to-date information possible. Employees are strongly encouraged to know their department’s licensing, registration and certification processes, and to have their most current information readily available for their managers. • Mandatory Inservices—Inservices on subjects such as fire safety, infection control/OSHA/blood borne pathogens, pain management and CPR are mandatory and must be attended by all BWH staff members. Employees should know what mandatory training is necessary for their positions and should make time to attend those training sessions offered by their department. • Education and Training—All ongoing educational and professional development courses that employees and managers attend should be documented. Employees are responsible for tracking these classes and for providing their managers with copies of successfully completed courses and curriculum. For more information, contact your HR generalist or any member of the HR PREPAIRE team.
